Jess Garman has taught students K-12 in schools, museums and nonprofit settings for the past 10 years. She has developed curriculum for museum education programs (the National Building Museum in D.C. & the Baltimore Museum of Art) and has worked as a teacher and librarian at both the Friends School of Baltimore and Crystal Springs Uplands School in Hillsborough, CA. In 2012, she obtained a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Maryland. Currently, she is in graduate school to become a children's and family therapist.
Through teaching english, art, information technology and media literacy in both public and private school settings, she has developed a unique understanding of the importance of providing students an environment in which they are challenged to learn and grow within a supportive environment. Jess is also a resident artist at KALA print studios in Berkeley. She lives in Oakland with her two cats, her partner, and her sweet little boy, Julian. She is excited to be diving into enriching and creative projects with kids this summer in the form of a CAMP (one of her favorite places to be as a kid!). |
Nora Jarvis has been teaching a variety of grade levels in public and independent schools for the past decade, but has worked with kids in different capacities for much longer. Nora has won her school district's Drop Out Prevention Award, and has completed numerous courses in literacy, STEM, and anti-bias/anti-racist education. She enjoys creating meaningful literacy activities, engaging math games, and incorporating the arts. She loves the outdoors, coffee, and a good book. Nora looks forward to a fun and enriching camp with a great group of kids.
